Postcards From Nowhere (2015-2017)

This is a series of mixed media drawings of scenes from my daily life. I use a variety of drawing materials, from brushed ink and watercolor to pen, pencil, marker and crayon. Often times I use paper that is deliberately stained with rust, wine, flower petals, coffee and dirt. The abstract surface becomes a kind of atmosphere in which the drawing lives. Inspired by vintage postcards and vernacular photography, I try to capture something sublime within the most ordinary places.
