On the Green, New Haven, CT (2019)

Studies of the people who lived in the park a block from Yale University. A study in stark contrasts. Drawings made with instruments created out of found objects gathered in the park, on paper and other found materials from the park, and using found ink and pigment created from mud found in the park.

This series was created as part of my self-directed hands-on research during a week-long art history intensive at the British Museum of Art at Yale. The drawings were inspired by the notes and sketchbooks of British Colonial officers stationed in India- "exotic natives" in their habitat. I felt very self-conscious about my position as an outsider witnessing these two worlds co-existing and overlapping without acknowledging each other.

This is a "bouquet" of found materials I left as a thank you gift for Dr. Barringer, the lead instructor of the workshop.
